Mental health is a very serious issue.
And many people have issues that are very hard to deal with. However, mental health problems are not like other illnesses where you show the signs of sickness. Your close friend can have depression, and you’d never know.
This subject hits particularly close to home because many friends of mine have dealt or are dealing with mental health problems. I had depression a few years ago, and it sucks the life out of you.
What many people don’t know, however, is that sometimes all we need is a friend. Someone who can be there for us when we need them. That’s it. And the following story might be heart-wrenching, but stories like these are happening all around the world, and nobody’s batting an eye.
The conversation started out normal enough.
However, Shawn’s friend quickly realized something was wrong.
Even though Shawn was adamant about it, she insisted on being there for him.
And he responded saying that was exactly what he needed.
And so the plans were set, and she was going to go to his house at 8:15.
However, it seems that by the time she reached him, it was too late.
Even though she wanted to be there for him, she got there a bit too late.
She posted these texts on her Twitter and ended it with a heartbreaking message.
My friend committed suicide on Tuesday. He told me he was in a low place and needed to talk. By the time I got to his house, he was gone. Please let this be a reminder to check on your friends.
You never know when it will be too late.
Rest In Peace, Shawn.
If you or anyone else you know is dealing with a mental health issue, it’s always recommended to seek help from a psychiatrist or at least your family and friends.
